When you’re going through a divorce, it’s difficult to keep your children uninvolved in the process, especially once you begin broaching the subjects of custody, child support, holiday visitations, and even parenting styles. Once you’ve separated from a spouse, it becomes clear just how much of your lives are interwoven, and parenting and child care is often the hardest part of your divorce to negotiate and feel good about. That’s why at Amber M. Serwat Mediation, I work with Minneapolis, Minnesota families to make sure that family mediations go smoothly so that you run into as few parenting problems after your divorce as possible.

Equitable Solutions to Parenting Problems

Although it would be ideal if you could work every detail of your divorce out in mediations or in court, the first time you go through divorce mediations might not be your last. Often times, because our lives are constantly changing, it can become difficult to uphold the stipulations of previous mediations or court decisions. Some of the most common parenting problems I see have to do with making changes to the parenting schedule and child support agreements. If you’ve recently had a decrease in salary, you very likely will not be in a position to pay the amount of child support you previously agreed to pay, and if your work schedule is changing, you may need to adjust your custody agreement accordingly. Whatever your parenting problem, I’m here to help you mediate each issue so that we can help you reach a fair and desirable outcome for everyone.

Mediating Common Parenting Problems after Divorce

I understand that speaking to a former spouse about parenting problems after a divorce can be challenging, if not painful and impossible, and that’s why I’ve made it a priority to help parents get through their parenting problems with ease through mediation. Mediation allows you to settle issues that don’t need to be resolved in court, providing a cheaper, less time-consuming alternative to revisiting court. If you and your former spouse can reach agreements outside of court, you’ll save both of yourselves the cost and stress of court dates and reach parenting agreements much faster.

Minneapolis Family Law Mediation

If you’re in need of a family law mediator, I’m here to help with the experience and insight you need to adjust parenting agreements. Because our lives change, our parenting problems change, and while trying to enforce curfew used to be your biggest parenting problem, now it might be figuring out how much child support you can afford to send each month or how often you’ll get to see your child over the holidays.
